Unlawful use of motor vehicle arrest in Wongawallan, QLD

A 15-year-boy has been charged following an alleged unlawful use of a car from Maroochydore.

A 68-year-old woman reported her Mercedes stolen from a Maroochydore shopping centre when she returned to find it gone at around 3.30pm on April 16.

Today, shortly after 11am, the Mercedes was allegedly seen travelling on Tamborine Oxenford Road Wongawallan by police this morning and when an attempt was made to intercept the vehicle reversed into a police vehicle and then drove forward into another car (no one was injured).

When the Mercedes came to a stop police removed the 15-year-old from the driver seat and he was taken into custody.

The boy was charged with one count each of stealing, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, evade police, unlicensed driving, dangerous driving, obstruct police and possession of a knife in public. He was refused police bail is due to face the Southport Childrens Court this month.

Police investigations are continuing, and investigators would like to speak to anyone with relevant dashcam footage from that area or anyone with information.
