AUSTRALIA, March 14, 2024 – From embracing TikTok’s sleepy girl mocktails to investing in the newest silk sleep mask, Aussies are always on the lookout for the best way to get a good night’s sleep. However, despite the array of sleep advice available, new research found sleep is still a major concern to Aussies.

The research, commissioned by the number one global food and nutrition app MyFitnessPal, found eight in ten (82%) Australians struggle to fall asleep, with nearly half (49%) claiming they don’t get enough sleep.

Ahead of World Sleep Day on March 15, MyFitnessPal is making it easier for Aussies to get a holistic view of their sleep with the launch of its newest in-app innovation, Sleep Factors.

The new Sleep Factors feature builds off the app’s initial Sleep function that was introduced in November 2023 which allowed members to view sleep data captured from a wide assortment of apps and trackers across iOS and Android, alongside their food logged for the day. Now, users will be able to have access to even more impactful insights on how the foods and beverages they consume during the day impact their nightly rest.

All members utilising the feature accessible through Sleep will be able to view a chart breaking down their sleep cycle type as well as food logs for the day, broken down by meal. Premium users will now have extra visibility into the individual factors impacting their sleep – sugar, water, and exercise – with a visual representation of their consumption levels for each category, alongside the optimal recommended range.
