Horsham City Oval is undergoing a transformative redevelopment, and Council is committed to delivering top-notch facilities for players, spectators, and enthusiasts alike.

Frequently asked questions

Will the netball courts be ready for the season?

Yes, final compliance testing has been completed and the courts are now ready for play.

Is the lighting and landscaping ready?

Lighting compliance testing has been completed and the lighting is finished. Minimal landscaping is in place at the moment, with the remainder to be undertaking in conjunction with the netball pavilion build.

Will there be toilets available for netballers etc?

Relocatable site toilets will be provided for use by the netballers and general public during home games.

What is the timeline for the new netball changerooms and multipurpose space?

Temporary changerooms are being provided for the upcoming season in the nearby former ambulance station building.

Council has proceeded to market on two earlier occasions with a construction tender, providing a detailed construction design based on the concept design endorsed by the City to River User Reference Group. On both occasions all tender responses have been over budget.

Council has determined that an innovative response is required to deliver the conceptual feel of the endorsed design while containing costs within the budget.

A new tender to design and construct the netball pavilion will be released to market early next week.

How is HRCC working with HFNC to ensure disruption is minimalised during the construction period?

Council holds monthly meetings with the club and other City Oval stakeholders, to ensure disruption is minimised during the construction period.

Is the project still on track?

Contrary to rumours, we haven’t run out of money. We didn’t lose the grant. We are following fiscally prudent actions to ensure that costs are contained within the available budget. The funding partner, Sport and Recreation Victoria, is well aware of the situation and supporting HRCC in finding a responsible resolution.
