Update2: Appeal – Serious injury crash in Sunnybank Hills, QLD


Police have released vision of a break and enter they believe may be linked to a single vehicle crash in Sunnybank Hills last night.

The crash left a 17-year-old woman with critical injuries and extensive damage to a house.

At about 11:20pm 7 February 2022 a stolen Lexus (QLD Reg WAT163) was being driven along Hellawell Road when the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a house on Gowan Road causing significant structural damage.

The Lexus was stolen during a burglary at Kuraby on 6 February 2022 and had been sighted at multiple offence locations in the South Brisbane and Logan areas.

First responders located the woman unconscious outside of the vehicle. She was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where she remains in a critical condition with significant injuries.

Four males fled the scene a black Audi Sedan which was travelling with the Lexus. Inquiries confirmed this Audi was stolen from Newmarket on 6 February 6, 2022.

At 4am yesterday (February 8) the Audi was involved in the unlawful entry of a business at Coopers Plains where a quantity of cigarettes were stolen. The Audi has since been located abandoned in Inala.

No one was in the house at the time of the crash.

Investigators urge anyone with information about the crash, knowledge about the occupants of either the Audi or the Lexus or dashcam footage from the area to contact police.

The Forensic Crash Unit & local Detectives are investigating.
