Eurobodalla Council will hold a community barbecue in Malua Bay later this month to seek feedback on a proposed upgrade of Albert Bamman Memorial Park at the Malua Bay Beach Reserve.
The Council has secured $1.2million to upgrade the park to better meet the needs of people of all ages and abilities.
A draft concept plan, based on community feedback received through Council’s Recreation and Open Space Strategy process, was developed in 2019. The draft plan helped secure the funding and now Council is looking to finalise the project so work can begin.
Key improvements include a playground upgrade, new accessible toilet block with change space and beach showers, new and improved picnic facilities, exercise equipment, a new wheelchair-accessible viewing platform, and recognition of the reserve’s heritage. A connecting pathway around the reserve will improve access to all the park’s features, particularly for our older residents and people with disability, while landscaping will beautify the area.
A community barbecue will be held at the reserve on Saturday 28 May, between 10am and 2pm, for residents to view the concept plan, tell Council staff what they like about it, what could be improved, and what they’d like to see in the play space.
Those who can’t attend can view the plan on Council’s website and provide their feedback by Thursday 30 June 2022, 4.30pm.
The Malua Bay Beach Reserve upgrade is being delivered thanks to funding from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, the NSW Government’s Everyone Can Play program, the Lions District 201N2 Disaster Recovery Fund and Council funds.
