The Mount Gambier Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) is making it easier for locals to the urgent care they need when and where they need it and taking pressure off Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service.
The Mt Gambier Medicare UCC is open extended hours, 7 days a week and importantly is fully bulk billed – all patients need is their Medicare card.
Since opening in November last year, the Mount Gambier Medicare UCC has seen more than 2,200 patients.
Of these visits, over 1 in 6 have been on the weekend.
The largest proportion of presentations at the Mt Gambier Medicare UCC have been those aged under 30, representing over 1 in 3 presentations.
The Mt Gambier Medicare UCC is providing a valuable service to the community for urgent care and supporting conditions such as respiratory infections.
The Government is also supporting locations with Head to Health and headspace spaces.
Mount Gambier Head to Health opened last July. It provides a safe and welcoming place for adults to access mental health information, supports and services. A multidisciplinary team provides free care, and people don’t need an appointment.
Since opening it has received over 750 contacts from people in the Mount Gambier community.
headspace Mount Gambier has been providing services to young people in the Mount Gambier community since 2016.
headspace provides services for 12- to 25-year-olds experiencing, or at risk of, mild to moderate mental illness. It covers mental health, physical and sexual health, alcohol and other drug support, and study and work services.
