Vehicle pursued by Police after assault and carjacking at Dubbo, NSW

Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted during a carjacking in the state’s Orana region.

About 2pm yesterday (Tuesday 22 January 2020), a 74-year-old woman was loading shopping into the boot of her Nissan Pulsar, parked in a shopping centre carpark on Bligh Street, Dubbo, when she was approached from behind and struck to the back of the head.

Following a struggle, the man took the woman’s keys and drove off in the vehicle, reversing over her feet.

The women fell, striking her head on the ground. Members of the public came to her aid and emergency services were notified.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics attended and treated the woman for head and leg injuries before she was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District attended and the Nissan was sighted on Hampton Street.

The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated; however, was terminated shortly due to safety concerns.

Inquiries continue to locate the man who is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 175cm tall, of a medium build, with brown hair and brown eyes.
