Warburton Fatal Crash

Major Crash Investigation Section officers are seeking information regarding a fatal crash on Great Central Road yesterday, Sunday 28 August 2022, about 170km south west of Warburton.
About 8:10am Police were notified of an emergency beacon activation which was indicating a location on the Great Central Road, about 170km south west of Warburton and about 385km east of Laverton. Initial information obtained was that the emergency related to a head-on crash.
Police, St John Ambulance, Warburton Community Clinic and Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) personnel were deployed to the area. This included the deployment of three RFDS aircraft in support of the response to the crash.
Upon arrival at the scene it was confirmed there had been a head-on crash between a Toyota LandCruiser and a Nissan Navara.
The 58-year-old male driver of the Toyota LandCruiser did not appear to have any serious injuries and attended hospital by road.
There were six people in the Nissan Navara:
– A 31-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, died at the scene.
– The 47-year-old male driver of the Nissan and his four other passengers were flown out of the crash area and to Perth by the RFDS.
o Tragically, one of those passengers – a 56-year-old woman – has since died in Royal Perth Hospital.
o The driver and a 36-year-old female passenger remain in Royal Perth Hospital.
o Two child passengers – aged 11 and 16 years old – remain in Perth Children’s Hospital.
