DPIE-Crown Lands is investing $142,000 to help rejuvenate a waterfront reserve in Greenwich, with an upgraded walking trail and sandstone steps that will improve access to the foreshore.
The NSW Government is covering more than half the project cost of the Manns Point project, with Lane Cove Council contributing the remaining $115,500.
“This project will enhance the recreational opportunities available at Manns Point,” Member for Lane Cove Anthony Roberts said.
“Locals can enjoy a picnic in the natural setting, walk from the lookout to the foreshore, or just enjoy the river views.
“We’ll be doing all we can to preserve native vegetation on the foreshore, which will include engaging specialist local contractors to climb down some of the steeper areas to rehabilitate bushland and prevent the spread of noxious weeds.”
Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Rob Stokes said the project will be delivered under the $16 million Greater Sydney Crown Land Open Space Activation Program which helps activate government-owned Crown land to deliver more quality green, open public space.
“Crown lands can provide good quality green open space for the community whether that be the parkland reserves, foreshore precincts or civic spaces,” Mr Stokes said.
“This program allows councils to work in partnership with Crown land managers to activate and revitalise land while creating local jobs at the same time.”
