Weapons arrest in North Ipswich, QLD

Ipswich Child Protection Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man following threats made to an educational facility in North Ipswich yesterday, Thursday August 25.

Investigations commenced following alleged threats being made against a staff member by a 32-year-old North Ipswich man prompting Queensland Police to executed to executed a search warrant at a North Street residence around 8am today.

Detectives allegedly located a number of weapons hidden within the house, under beds and in cupboards, including three shortened rifles, one rifle, one pump action shotgun, one crossbow, one push knife, ammunition and fireworks.

Investigators also allegedly located a quantity of dangerous drugs and utensils, including cannabis and pipes.

Police took the man into custody without incident and he has been assisting detectives with their inquiries.

Detectives expect to charge him later this afternoon.

There is no threat to the community.
