Weather update 13 May

flooding2.jpg

We continue to monitor the situation closely as rain is expected across the city today.

The Local Disaster Coordination Centre is currently activated.

Through the day, and particularly in the Gold Coast hinterland, we may see rainfalls leading to localised flooding and road closures.

While the amount of rain we have experienced in recent days would not normally be cause for concern, the catchments are saturated and we have already seen some minor flash flooding leading to road closures.

City crews are out today assessing any impacts and conducting any works as required.

Our main message can’t be clearer – if it’s flooded forget it.

Bureau of Meteorology marine wind and hazardous surf condition warnings remain for the Gold Coast. Continue to monitor the latest updates from the Bureau.

BEACHES

Gold Coast Beaches are closed today.

There is a big swell today and while we do not expect significant impacts on our beaches, there may be some minor scarping in the usual places.
