Macedon Ranges Shire Council is reopening or expanding access to facilities following the Victorian Government’s further relaxation of restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
Hanging Rock, fitness centres and indoor pools have already reopened with COVIDSafe plans in place.
At Hanging Rock, the top of the Summit Walk and the Discovery Centre remain closed for health and safety reasons and all visitors need to sign-in for mandatory contact tracing purposes. All other facilities, walks and fishing in the dam are available to enjoy, including Hanging Rock Cafe.
At fitness centres, indoor stadiums and pools, there are restrictions on the number of users in each facility at any one time.
In the coming weeks, Council will look to reopen further facilities.
Acting Chief Executive Officer, John Nevins said while it won’t be back to business as usual just yet, Council is pleased to be in this position where it can start planning to reopen more facilities.
“We are carefully evaluating each of our facilities and services, and continuing our work with local businesses to implement COVIDSafe plans across the shire.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors back to the Macedon Ranges, but our top priority is making sure that we have the appropriate plans in place to keep our communities safe,” he said.
