Western Australia coronovirus update as at 16 April 2021

The Department of Health has reported one new case of COVID-19 overnight – a female in her 40s – who is in hotel quarantine after returning from overseas travel.

The State’s total number now stands at 966.

WA Health is monitoring 17 active cases of COVID-19 and 940 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

To date, the WA Department of Health has administered 74,046 COVID-19 vaccinations, including 15,372 people who have received both doses. Yesterday, 1796 people were vaccinated.

Yesterday, 370 people were assessed for testing at WA Health COVID clinics, with 368 swabbed.

There have been 982,480 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 136,381 were from regional WA.

To date, 47 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia – 34 of the B.1.1.7 strain, 12 of the B.1.351 strain and one of the P1 variant (Brazilian variant).
