Western Australia coronovirus update as at 24 January

The Department of Health has today reported two new cases of COVID-19 in Western Australia, bringing the State’s total to 894.

Both cases are males and relate to overseas travel. Both are in hotel quarantine.

WA Health is monitoring 12 active cases and 873 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

There have been 707,133 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those tested, 111,045 were from regional WA.

Yesterday 1,068 people presented to WA Health-managed COVID clinics – 1,063 were assessed and swabbed.

To date twelve cases of variant strains have been detected, four which remain active in hotel quarantine. Of these cases, 10 are the B.1.1.7 strain and two are the B.1.351 variant strain.
