Western Australia coronovirus update as at 6 March 2021

The Department of Health has reported two new cases of COVID-19 overnight.

The State’s total number of confirmed cases now stands at 916.

One case is a male who has returned from overseas travel and is currently in hotel quarantine.

The second case is a historical case associated with an international flight crew member, who is no longer in Australia. Following review of case history and definitions, his case has been reported in Western Australian figures, and national surveillance data.

WA Health is monitoring three active cases of COVID-19 and 903 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

Yesterday 1069 people were vaccinated. To date, 6616 West Australians have received the COVID vaccine.

Yesterday at WA Health COVID clinics 501 people presented for testing – 497 were assessed and swabbed.

To date, 26 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia (18 B.1.1.7 of the strain and 8 of the B.1.351 strain).

There have been 879,233 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 128,970 were from regional WA.
