Western Australia coronovirus update as at 9 March 2021

The Department of Health has reported one new case of COVID-19 overnight.

The State’s total number of confirmed cases now stands at 920.

The case is a male in his 30s who has returned from overseas travel and is currently in hotel quarantine.

WA Health is monitoring eight active cases of COVID-19 and 903 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

Yesterday 1449 people were vaccinated. To date, 9,289 West Australians have received the COVID vaccine.

Yesterday at WA Health COVID clinics 522 people presented for testing – 515 were assessed and swabbed.

To date, 26 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia (18 B.1.1.7 of the strain and 8 of the B.1.351 strain).

There have been 889,786 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 130,955 were from regional WA.
