Western Australia Covid update as at 26 July 2022

WA Health is reporting a total of 4,409 new cases to 6pm last night. There are currently 31,321 active cases in Western Australia.

To 6pm last night, there were 457 people with COVID-19 in hospital, 17 in ICU.

Sadly, today’s report includes four deaths, which were reported to WA Health yesterday – dating back to 19July – a woman in her 90s, a man in his 80s, a woman in her 70s and a man in his 50s.

Notes

  1. This data is based on the residential postcode of each case. The case may have an isolation address in another region.
  2. The remainder of daily cases reported (500) are yet to have a region assigned. Data will continue to be reconfigured as this information is verified.

Of the 4,409 cases, 1,027 were confirmed via PCR test, the remaining 3,382 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total of 8,544 PCR tests were conducted at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has recorded 1,042,577 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

In line with national guidelines, WA Health has adjusted the total number of reported cases in this State, to preclude secondary positive test results within 12 weeks of leaving isolation following initial COVID infection.
