  • Public Expression of Interest launching today
  • The McGowan Government’s new $1.8 billion world-class women and babies hospital expected to provide care for the next 100 years
  • The McGowan Government is calling for people who have used King Edward Memorial Hospital, the Family Birth Centre, other women’s health and maternity services, and future consumers to join focus groups and help shape the new women and babies hospital.

An Expression of Interest campaign is launching today and will be the first of many opportunities for the public to help shape the future of the new tertiary hospital.

Focus groups will commence in the coming months, aiming to provide input into the services and design on the new hospital.

Applications for the Expression of Interest close at 5pm on Friday 11 November.

The next stage of the design process will commence in early 2023.

As stated by Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:

“It is an absolute priority for me to ensure patient-centred care is at the heart of the new women and babies hospital.

“This is a unique opportunity for Western Australians to have their say in the design of this world-class tertiary hospital and the services which will serve the community for generations to come.

“We want to hear from people who have used existing women’s and maternity services, including the Family Birthing Centre.

“I want to ensure the voices of women and families are embedded in the planning process. This will help shape the design of the new hospital and the services it will offer.

“We will be consulting with the community throughout every stage of this project. We want to make sure we deliver a hospital that best meets the needs of the people who will be using its services.”
