Western suburbs man charged over online child exploitation, South Australia

A western suburbs man was arrested this morning for offences relating to online child exploitation.

Detectives from the SA Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (SA JACET) a partnership between SAPOL’s Public Protection Branch and the Australian Federal Police, this morning (Tuesday 14 April) arrested a 41-year-old man and charged him with two counts of making a child amenable to sexual activity, two counts of attempting to dishonestly communicate with children (Carly’s Law) and one count of offences relating to websites.

Police will allege the man was acting as a co-administrator of a social networking application for the purpose of dealing with child exploitation material.

The man was granted police bail and will appear before the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 14 October.

With many children spending more time on the computer, accessing their education and communicating with friends remotely, parents are urged to keep a close eye on who their children are communicating with online.

Members of the public who have any information about people involved in child exploitation are urged to report it via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au – you can remain anonymous.
