Who will win $25,000 prize in this year’s Sunshine Coast Art Prize?

Forty artists from across Australia are eagerly awaiting the Sunshine Coast Art Prize 2019 winners’ announcements on Thursday, August 29.

The Sunshine Coast Art Prize is one of the most dynamic and prestigious visual arts awards in Australia and the 2019 finalists are a reflection of outstanding contemporary 2D arts practice in Australia.

Everyone is very welcome to come along to Caloundra Regional Gallery for this special annual event, where the major cash prize of $25,000 will be awarded to one lucky artist.

2019 judge, Alison Kubler had the un-enviable task of selecting the major prize winner, as well as the $5000 Highly Commended winner and Sunshine Coast Art Prize residency winner, from some of Australia’s best known and emerging contemporary artists.

The event includes solo performances by vibrant indie-pop songstress Fieu, delicious food and a cash bar.

Since the exhibition opened in July, gallery visitors have been busy voting for their favourite artwork in the People’s Choice Award. The People’s Choice winner will also be announced on the night with the winning artist taking home $2500.

Voting for the People’s Choice Award closes 5pm, August 25 so if you haven’t already voted, make sure you visit the gallery website to place your vote and go into the draw for a chance to win a $100 Caloundra Regional Gallery shop gift voucher.

The Sunshine Coast Art Prize exhibition will be on display until Sunday, September 15.

The Sunshine Coast Art Prize is presented by Caloundra Regional Gallery with support from Sunshine Coast Council, DeDeyne Family, Caloundra Chamber of Commerce, IAS Fine Art Logistics and Montville Council Cabins.

Owned and operated by Sunshine Coast Council, Caloundra Regional Gallery is located at 22 Omrah Avenue and is open Tuesday to Friday 10am – 4pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am – 2pm.
