Witnesses sought to man’s fall from pedestrian overpass in Sydney CBD

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was seriously injured when he fell from a pedestrian overpass in the Sydney CBD overnight.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command were called to the Harbour Street pedestrian overpass near Bathurst Street about 9:26pm yesterday (Saturday 5 March 2022), after a man fell onto the roadway.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he is undergoing surgery. The man, believed to be aged in his 20s or 30s, is reported to be in a critical condition.

Police have established a crime scene on Harbour Street, and on the overpass with an investigation now underway.

Officers have information that several people may have been on the overpass about the time the man fell, and they are appealing for those people to come forward to clarify the circumstances leading to the incident.
