Critical communications in Wollondilly and surrounds has been boosted with enhancements to a government radio network site at Hill Top.
Member for Wollondilly Nathaniel Smith welcomed the improvements to the government radio network site.
“The work is part of the roll-out of the Critical Communications Enhancement Program being delivered by the NSW Telco Authority.
“The network’s expansion represents the biggest investment in critical communications infrastructure by the NSW Government in two decades and I am delighted that the Hill Top site will benefit from the roll-out,” Mr Smith said.
“The enhanced network will better support the coordination of critical responses such as road crashes, fires and other emergencies in our local community,” Mr Smith added.
The NSW Government is investing $320 million over the next four years to expand the government radio network from 190 sites to approximately 700 sites. This will boost network coverage from 35 per cent of NSW to over 80 per cent.
Mr Smith joined with Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello in saying that the upgrade will strengthen the state’s critical communications network and assist firefighters, paramedics, police and SES during emergencies.
“The NSW Government is committed to growing the network to ensure that emergency service organisations have a more reliable network to help keep people and places safe,” Mr Dominello said.
