A woman remains under police guard after a nurse and patient were stabbed, and two other nurses were injured at RPA Hospital overnight.
About 8.30pm (Saturday 4 May 2019), a patient became agitated and began hitting the wall of her room.
When staff attempted to intervene, it’s alleged the 29-year-old woman grabbed scissors from a nurse’s pocket and stabbed her twice in the back after she fell to the ground.
Two nurses came to her aid and sustained minor injuries.
The patient then ran to a nearby room and allegedly stabbed another patient, a 75-year-old woman, to the face.
Police attended after the woman was restrained by hospital security and sedated by hospital staff.
The initial nurse and the 75-year-old woman received minor injuries and were treated overnight.
Detectives from Inner West Police Area Command are continuing to investigate the incident.
The 29-year-old remains under police guard in hospital.
Inquiries are continuing.
