Woman robbed at ATM, man charged, NSW

An off-duty police officer has assisted in the arrest of a man after he allegedly stole a cash from a woman in Potts Point overnight.

About 8pm (Wednesday 11 December 2019), a 39-year-old woman was depositing cash into an automatic teller machine (ATM) on Macleay Street, Potts Point.

Police will allege in court that a man grabbed the cash before it could be deposited and ran down Macleay Street.

An off-duty male constable, who was walking down the street, spotted the incident and ran after the man while notifying officers from Kings Cross Police Area Command.

The 43-year-old man was arrested nearby and taken to Kings Cross Police Station.

He was charged with larceny and refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Thursday 12 December 2019).

Investigations are continuing.
