Construction has begun on a major upgrade at Malvern Springs Primary School in Ellenbrook, which will see students benefit from a new $2.5 million teaching block.
Construction is expected to be completed in early 2022.
Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery was at the school today to turn the first sod at the location of the new building.
The building will include four contemporary classrooms and provide an expanded learning space at the school for more than 120 students.
Architecture firm Carabiner designed the new building, and Devlyn Construction Pty Ltd will manage the construction which will support approximately nine jobs.
Malvern Springs Primary School has grown rapidly from fewer than 300 students when it first opened in 2012, to 845 students from kindergarten to Year 6.
This project is part of the McGowan Government’s WA Recovery Plan investing $492.2 million for upgrades and refurbishments at public schools around Western Australia.
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
“As the Ellenbrook area continues to expand, it is an important time to build permanent classrooms that allow the continued delivery of excellent leaning opportunities.
