There’s going to be some action at Linda Vidler Park, home of the Suffolk Park Football Club (SPFC), over the next several months with work starting this week on new change rooms, toilets, and a canteen.
The new change rooms will cater for male and female players and will be accessible for people of all abilities.
“There are currently no change rooms for women and girls at the SPFC home ground, which in this day and age, is not appropriate, especially when you take into account football’s enormous popularity across the board,” Byron Shire Mayor, Michael Lyon said.
The $500,000 project is funded by the NSW Regional Sport Facility Fund and will take approximately five months to finish.
The change rooms will include:
- Male and female change rooms including showers and toilets
- Referees’ change room and shower
- Kiosk
The playing fields and existing toilets and canteen will remain open for the duration of construction.
Nearby residents and businesses may notice some construction noise and there may be temporary disruptions to users of the skate park and tennis courts.
Access to the work site will be via Dehnga Place.
“These facilities, when finished, will be appreciated by the SPFC, visiting players, and everyone who loves to spend time at Linda Vidler Park,” Mayor Lyon said.
