Work starts on new early childhood building at Mount Helena Primary School

  • Construction has started on a major upgrade at Mount Helena Primary School which will deliver a new early childhood building.

    Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery was at the school today to turn the first sod where the $2 million facilities will be built.

    The new early childhood block will provide exciting learning opportunities for kindergarten and pre-primary students.

    The early childhood building will include two early childhood classrooms, toilets, a kitchen and storage facilities to accommodate for 46 students.

    Christou Architects has designed the new facilities, with construction undertaken by Devlyn Construction. The project will support local jobs.

    Construction is expected to be completed in February 2022.

    This project is part of the McGowan Government’s WA Recovery Plan investing $492.2 million for upgrades and refurbishments at public schools around Western Australia.

    As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

    “These new facilities will provide students at Mount Helena Primary School with exciting opportunities to learn in the most up-to-date facilities.

    “The McGowan Government is delivering upgrades to our schools, investing in our communities and creating local WA jobs.”

    As stated by Swan Hills MLA Jessica Shaw:

    “This is a rapidly growing area and I’m proud our Government is delivering upgrades to ensure the school can continue to provide excellent educational opportunities to local families.

    “I understand the importance of education to our community and welcome this new early childhood building at Mount Helena Primary School.”
