Working together on virus response

Four of Bass Coast’s largest employers are working together to support their communities and employees as Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to and spread across the world.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses. COVID-19 is a new virus that can cause an infection in people, including severe respiratory illness.

Bass Coast Shire Council, Bass Coast Health, Phillip Island Nature Parks and Westernport Water are now implementing their preparedness and response plans, to ensure they can sustain their essential services during this time of uncertainty.

“Our organisations appreciate that the community is concerned about COVID-19 and we are all working together to support the delivery of key services and facilitate workforce continuity and sustainability,” Bass Coast Shire CEO, Ali Wastie said.

“We place the health and wellbeing of our communities and our staff above everything else.”

Each organisation is well equipped to respond to the emerging situation with preparations well underway.

“We are following advice from State and Commonwealth Government Departments and the Chief Medical Officers,” Ms Wastie said.

“We will continue to assess the situation and provide as much information to the community that we can.”
