Wagga Leisure is undertaking a staged upgrade of the Workout Gym change rooms and weights area aimed at improving access, comfort, and equipment quality for all patrons of the facility.
Work commenced on the project at the start of June 2026.
The initial phase focuses on the upgrade and general refurbishment of the male change room, and construction of two brand-new unisex change rooms with showers, providing an additional changing option closer to the gym floor.
Manager – Wagga Leisure Marc Geppert said the upgrades are part of the refurbishment of the entire facility and are set to deliver a recovery zone for gym users and more access to changeroom facilities.
“The project will transform the space to provide a recovery area, including an ice-bath room to go with the existing sauna, as well as space for future expansion,” Mr Geppert said.
“A unisex change room is also being installed in the gym end of the facility given the current female change rooms are located at the far end of the group fitness room.
“The new unisex facilities will provide flexible options for individuals of all genders.
“The change rooms were in need of an upgrade, which is being undertaken as part of a larger suite of upgrades to the facility since Council took over management in 2025.”

Once the first phase is completed, the existing female change room will be upgraded, while new flooring will be installed throughout the gym weights area to refresh the entire strength training space, and older gym machines will be progressively replaced with new equipment.
During the works there may be some temporary access changes and intermittent noise during construction periods.
“Efforts are being made to minimise disruption to members and visitors during the works and will communicate any specific access changes in advance wherever possible,” Mr Geppert said.
“If you’re unsure which change room or shower facilities are available on a given day, please ask reception and the team will point you in the right direction.
“Thanks again for your patience and support while we upgrade the facility.”
The first phase of works are expected to be completed before the 30 June 2026.
