World leaders to address Perth audience for Global Citizen NOW

  • Kevin Rudd and Alex Pearce to address Global Citizen NOW: Perth in October
  • Global Citizen returns to Perth for the first time in 15 years
  • Opportunity for the Cook Labor Government to put WA first on the world stage

World leaders will assemble in Perth this October as part of Global Citizen NOW: Perth, where the Cook Labor Government will have the opportunity to demonstrate its efforts to make Western Australia a renewable energy powerhouse.

The conference, to be held between 18 October and 20 October, will feature the following speakers:

  • Global President and CEO of the Asia Society and 26th Prime Minister of Australia Kevin Rudd;
  • Fremantle Dockers captain Alex Pearce;
  • President of Timor-Leste and Nobel Peace Laureate Jos Ramos-Horta;
  • Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda and Commonwealth Chair-in-Office Gaston Browne;
  • Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina J. Mohammed;
  • Tsao Pao Chee group chief corporate officer Niap Juan Loh;
  • Octopus Energy Generation CEO Zoisa North-Bond;
  • CrossBoundary Energy co-founder and CEO Matt Tilleard; and
  • Envision Energy senior vice president and president of international product line Kane Xu

Premier Roger Cook will deliver the opening address, with the government to have a unique platform to showcase how WA is addressing global challenges related to energy and decarbonisation and leading on the energy transition.

The summit forms part of a broader campaign of global events in the lead up to COP31, where Australia will serve as President of Negotiations in November.

As the State of Energy, WA is the perfect fit for Global Citizen’s conversations on sustainability, innovation, and collective action, with a series of public-facing engagement opportunities that will connect WA communities with ideas, people, and solutions that are shaping the future of energy, climate action, and economic resilience to also be held in October.
