Alcohol will not be permitted in Yarra’s public spaces – including parks, streets and reserves – from 9pm Wednesday 30 December until 9am Friday 1 January.

During any other time, drinking is not permitted in any of our public spaces beyond 9pm, and before 9am.

Victoria Police will be out enforcing this local law, along with Yarra Council’s local laws officer.

We welcome people to our parks during summer, and over the New Year period, but ask people to respect local residents and follow some simple rules:

  • Take rubbish with you
  • Avoid glass
  • Carry a mask just in case and remember to keep your distance.
  • Respect the neighbours
  • No pegging down marquees. Use weights only.
  • Use the public toilets provided.
