La Trobe University has welcomed the Victorian Government’s announcement last night in Delhi, India, of a $5 million Yes to International students fund which will offer targeted seed funding to Victorian universities and TAFEs to support transnational education partnerships between local and international tertiary education providers.
La Trobe University Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Theo Farrell, said that the University was grateful to the Victorian Government for its leadership and unwavering support of the higher education sector.
“The message that this new fund sends to international students could not be clearer: we want to support you to realise your dreams and ambitions through a quality Australian education,” Professor Farrell said.
La Trobe’s Chancellor, the Hon. John Brumby, is leading the Victorian Government’s education mission to India this week, which includes La Trobe’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Farrell. The mission is showcasing the University’s many established and developing transnational partnerships in India which includes the Asian Smart Cities Research Innovation Network (ASCRIN) which was founded by La Trobe.

“La Trobe has a proud and successful history in India, counting almost 11,000 people born in India among our alumni, helping develop India’s brightest minds through joint education opportunities and partnering with Indian tertiary institutions and leading industries on projects that are of mutual benefit to both countries,” he said.
