This will be the perfect way to enjoy this special day with friends and family alongside our beautiful river.

This year the Hawkesbury River itself will take centre stage with a special display by Wakeboard Australia. Wakeboard Australia will be holding its Annual “Australian Open and Junior Series” on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 January on the river, and will use Australia Day to finetune their skills and delight the crowds.

The RAAF has confirmed that its Roulettes – the RAAF aerobatic display team – will be conducting a flypast on the day.

The standout hit from our last Australia Day on the Hawkesbury – Farmer Dave – is back to MC in 2024, ensuring a fun and high-energy event for the whole family. He will also commentate the thong-throwing competition, which makes its return after a triumphant debut in 2023, so make sure you sign up at Council’s tent on the day and stake your claim for the 2024 Golden Thong trophy.

Australia Day on the Hawkesbury 2024 will also feature:

  • An outdoor stage with live entertainment, including an Aussie hits showcase from Let’s Groove Tonight
  • Food and drink stalls plus food trucks
  • Carnival rides
  • Free face painting
  • Emergency Services Display
  • Roving Entertainment

There is also an inclusive playspace at Governor Phillip Park. There is plenty of on-site parking available.

Whether relaxing by the river or under the trees, or taking in the river and stage entertainment, visitors are encouraged to bring their picnic rugs and chairs. However, please leave all portable shelters at home as they can pose a blow-over risk to other visitors, and they will not be permitted at the event.

Australia Day on the Hawkesbury is a dog-friendly event. Please keep dogs on a lead at all times.

We are also marking this important day with the Australia Day Awards Ceremony and a Citizenship Ceremony, both at Don’t Worry Oval, Windsor.
