Young people of Geelong will send a message of hope to isolated members of the community as part of a new initiative by the City of Greater Geelong’s Youth Development Unit.
The Youth Postcard Project is inviting young people in Greater Geelong, aged between 12 and 25 years old, to design a postcard that will be printed and distributed to recipients of the City’s Meals on Wheels program.
Meals on Wheels participants are members of the community in need of assistance, including those who are elderly or with a lived experience of disability.
The City of Greater Geelong has partnered with Barwon Health to also deliver the postcards to palliative care patients in the region.
Along with submitting a postcard design, participants will be asked to write a personal message of hope to recipients.
The project aims to connect members of the Greater Geelong community to increase social connection, while maintaining physical distancing.
Submissions are open from 9.00am Monday 20 April 2020 to midday Tuesday 28 April 2020.
The City’s Youth Council will judge the submissions and select the winning design to be printed and distributed.
The winner will be awarded a $150AUD Coles Group & Myer voucher and be notified by 5.00pm Wednesday 29 April 2020.
A digital booklet of submissions will be published on the Geelong Australia website to further send a message of hope to the whole community.
