  • $10 million available to private Registered Training Organisations to strengthen construction training
  • Ensures construction workforce has skills to meet current and future industry demand
  • Supports Cook Labor Government’s priorities of housing and supporting clean energy transition

The Cook Labor Government, through the Construction Training Fund, has opened applications for the 2026-27 Capital Grant Program to support investment in Western Australia’s building and construction training sector.

The $10 million program provides capital funding to eligible private Registered Training Organisations to increase training capacity and improve the quality of training, so the construction workforce has the skills to meet current and future industry demand.

Funding will prioritise projects that:

  • support the residential housing workforce;
  • grow apprenticeships and skills aligned to clean energy and decarbonisation;
  • improve gender equality and workforce diversity;
  • support modern methods of construction;
  • strengthen workforce retention; and
  • expand access to training in regional and remote areas, including through mobile and digital delivery.

Capital funding under the program is allocated based on demonstrated need and must support infrastructure that delivers industry relevant, high-quality training outcomes.

Applications open on 22 June 2026 and close at 5pm on Friday, 17 July 2026.

As stated by Skills and TAFE Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:

“We want to see more WA workers building our homes and delivering our clean energy transition.

“This funding will make sure our local workforce is well prepared with the skills to meet the current and future demand in our construction industry.”

As stated by Construction Training Fund Board Chair Karen Ho:

“The Capital Grant Program is about ensuring our training system keeps pace with the skills required to build homes, deliver major infrastructure, and support Western Australia’s transition to new and emerging industries.

“By investing in modern facilities, equipment, and delivery methods, we are strengthening the pipeline of skilled workers and improving training quality across the State.”
