2019 Australian Indoor Cricket National Championships to begin in Cranbourne

The 2019 Indoor Cricket National Championships will begin at Casey Stadium, Cranbourne in Victoria on Saturday, 29 June.

Almost 1000 players and officials will take part in the championships from 29 June to 13 July 2019, which sees national titles up for grabs in four open divisions, five junior divisions, plus the Taverners Australia Shield for cricketers with an intellectual disability.

Featuring international and domestic outdoor players including the likes of Cameron Boyce, Clive Rose and Tegan McPharlin, the Open championships will be played from 29 June to 6 July, followed by the Junior competition from 6 July to 13 July.

Cricket Australia Acting Executive General Manager of Community Cricket, Kieran McMillan said:

“We look forward to welcoming Australia’s best players to the 2019 Indoor Cricket National Championships at the new state-of-the-art indoor cricket facility at Casey Stadium.

“Over 180,000 people play indoor cricket across the country, with the fast, fun and social format providing opportunities to play all year around.

“The National Championships showcase the best of those players, including several State and W/BBL representatives, highlighting the importance of the format to a player’s cricketing journey.

“Cricket Australia is proud to partner with the City of Casey to host this year’s championships, estimated to generate $2.5 million in direct economic impact to the Casey region.”

In 2018, Queensland claimed three titles: Open Women’s, 21 and Under Men’s and Lord’s Taverners Shield whilst the Australian Capital Territory won the Open Men’s division and South Australia claimed the 21 and Under Ladies division.

Players competing at the tournament will also have the chance to be selected in one of four Australian teams (Open Men’s, Open Women’s, 21 and Under Men’s and 21 and Under Ladies) to tour New Zealand for the 2019 Trans-Tasman series in September.

Finals will be played across the respective Friday and Saturday at the end of each championship, with matches to be live-streamed across these four days via the CA Indoor website and Facebook page.
