A brand new 2022 Chevrolet Stingray C8 3LT Corvette will be going under the hammer completely unreserved this Saturday the 25th of June with bids already exceeding $75,000 over the original retail price.
These vehicles are in extremely high demand with wait times exceeding 2 years, which has seen the value dramatically increase.
“These vehicles usually retail for around $160,000 and the current bid online for this Corvette is $235,000 due to the long wait times on the vehicle,” said Mr. Lee Hames, Chief Operations Officer for Lloyds Auctions.
“Like many classics over the past couple years, we have seen increased demand and prices skyrocketing due to the rareness and significance of the cars,” said Mr. Hames.
“This is a very unique vehicle, we haven’t seen anything of this late model in our normal classic car auctions, but we’re excited by the amount of enquiry that has been pouring in from people looking to get their hands on this vehicle from all over the country,” continued Mr. Hames.
The 2022 Corvette comes with a bonus 3-year factory GM special vehicles warranty plus an additional 3 years.
It can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in just 3.1 seconds reaching a top speed of 312kph and it is indicating only 14 kilometres on the clock.
It isn’t the first time that Lloyds has seen vehicles sell for more than the original retail price. Earlier in March this year Lloyds auctioned second-hand Tesla’s for higher prices than their original price where a 2022 Tesla Model 3 sold for $73,000 when it normally retailed for $68,000.
It’s also not limited to just vehicles but extends to other luxury investments including high end watch brands such as Rolex where in February a stainless Rolex Daytona sold for over $50,000 with the original retail price being just over $13,000 at Lloyds.
There are over 420 classic cars going under the hammer on Saturday 25th June from 10:00am as part of Lloyds Auctions Grand Carmada Event alongside the Chevrolet Corvette.
This includes a 1985 Holden HDT VK SS Group A Blue Meanie that has had just one owner from new and Peter Brock’s personal Blue Meanie which is up for tender.
