Australia’s best and brightest in vocational education and training (VET) have been recognised with the announcement of 75 finalists for the 2023 Australian Training Awards.
The Australian Training Awards, to be held this year in Hobart on 17 November, recognise the achievements in VET across apprentices, trainees, educators, employers and training providers.
Now in its 30th year, the Australian Training Awards reinforce the benefits of a vibrant VET sector.
Finalists across 16 award categories are competing for a national award.
Award categories cover students, apprentices, trainees, teachers, schools, registered training organisations and employers, as well as an award recognising outstanding achievement.
The Australian Government is proud to host the Australian Training Awards and is committed to a skills and training reform agenda that strengthens the VET sector.
We have reached a landmark five-year National Skills Agreement between the Commonwealth, state and territory governments, which will take effect from 1 January next year.
Under the new Agreement, the Commonwealth will invest up to $12.6 billion to expand and transform access to quality training, support Australians to obtain the skills and capabilities they need and embed national cooperation and coordination in our VET sector.
This investment will deliver on national priorities including gender equity, Closing the Gap, supporting net zero transformation, sustaining essential care services, ensuring Australia’s digital capability and developing sovereign capability.
The National Skills Agreement will support a skill sector talent pipeline by establishing nationally networked TAFE Centres of Excellence, strengthening collaboration between TAFEs, universities and industry, improving foundation skills and building VET workforce capability.
