A man has been charged over two alleged armed robberies in the state’s north today.
Just after 11am today (Friday 11 September 2026) police were called to a service station on King Street, Warners Bay, following reports of an armed robbery.
Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District were told an unknown man – armed with a knife – entered the shop and threatened a 47-year-old woman before he stole cash and left the scene on foot.
A crime scene was established, and detectives commenced an investigation into the incident.
Following inquiries, about 12.10pm the same day, police arrested a 48-year-old man at a home on Fassifern Road, Fassifern.
A subsequent search warrant was executed at the location, and officers allegedly located and seized a knife, sunglasses, a pair of gloves and a mobile phone. A white hatchback was also seized to be forensically examined.
The 48-year-old man was taken to Toronto Police Station where he was charged with demand property with menaces with intent to steal (two counts) and robbery armed with offensive weapon.
Police will allege in court that the man was also involved in an attempted armed robbery at a newsagency in New Lambton earlier the same day.
He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 2 tomorrow (Saturday 12 September 2026).
