A man will face court today charged with rural crime offences after $56,000 cash was seized by Rural Crime investigators the state’s Central West.
Shortly before 6pm on Friday 19 November 2021, officers attached to the Rural Crime Prevention Team were patrolling as part of Operation Ambush when they stopped a white Toyota Landcruiser on Carinda Road, about 50km north of Warren.
Officers spoke with the man before searching his vehicle, seizing $52,400 cash.
The man was released pending inquiries.
Following further investigations, officers stopped the same man on Carinda Road, Warren, about 5pm yesterday (Wednesday 8 December 2021).
Officers searched the vehicle and seized a further $3700 cash.
The 40-year-old man was arrested and taken to Warren Police Station where he was charged with;
- Deal with property proceeds of crime
- goods in personal custody suspected being stolen
- carry unrestrained dog on back of moving vehicle on street
- unlawfully use net or trap for taking fish
- possess fish illegally taken
- take more fish than daily limit
- possess prohibited size fish, and
- operate as master non-PWC vessel without licence.
The man was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Thursday 9 December 2021).
Operation Ambush is an ongoing initiative in the region conducted by members of the Rural Crime Prevention Team (RCPT) targeting illegal hunting and other rural crime-related offences.
