A record 63 artists announced for Southern Highlands Arts Trail 2023

It’s no secret that the Southern Highlands is a mecca for talented creatives, full of world-class artists, sculptors, photographers and potters. 63 local creatives were successful in applying to be part of this year’s Southern Highlands Arts Trail, promising to make this the most exciting and inspiring experience to date, for our artists and visiting art lovers.

A unique destination experience that attracts visitors from far and wide to Wingecarribee Shire, Southern Highlands Arts Trail is set for the weekends of November 4th-5th and 11th-12th, 2023.

For the first time, an Arts Trail Ambassador has been selected. The talented Elizabeth Burton, who has participated in the Arts Trail for nine years, is delighted to have been named our 2023 Southern Highlands Arts Trail Ambassador. An award-winning artist and printmaker, she has exhibited and taught workshops in Australia and Italy, for the past 30 years. who for the past 30 years has exhibited and taught artists’ workshops in Australia and Italy.

“The Southern Highlands Arts Trail has an outstanding reputation as one of regional NSW’s leading arts festivals. It’s a privilege to open my studio this year as official Ambassador,” Elizabeth said. ” The Arts Trail is well known for offering visitors the opportunity to step into the studios and work spaces of local artists and artisans skilled in a range of crafts from printmaking to pottery, painting to textiles and watercolour to woodwork. We can’t wait to again welcome art lovers into the Southern Highlands arts community.”

The curatorial panel, consisting of Megan Monte, Director of Ngununggula, Rose Marin, Executive Director Southern Tablelands Arts and representatives from Destination Southern Highlands and Wingecarribee Shire Council, were excited by the high quality of submissions received. Rose commented “STA are proud to support the Southern Highlands Arts Trail as a fabulous local event that supports local creatives by providing a fabulous opportunity to purchase art straight from the artists. The variety and quality of work on offer makes the Southern Highlands Arts trail a must for anyone keen on enriching their spaces with locally made art.”

The Arts Trail is a wonderful incentive to spend time exploring the stunning Southern Highlands landscapes during Springtime. There are myriad cafes, restaurants and wineries to enjoy along the way. A printed and digital map will be available from the Southern Highlands Visitor Information Centre, www.visitsouthernhighlands.com.au website and www.artsfile.com.au website.
