Accolades to honour pillars of nursing and midwifery

  • Awards night to shine light on nursing and midwifery’s finest
  • Special tribute to COVID volunteer contingent
  • Finalists nominated by peers and patients
  • Outstanding Western Australian nurses and midwives will get their night in the spotlight this weekend when the 2020 WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards are presented.

The awards, which have been held annually since 2004, acknowledge WA nurses and midwives working across the private, public and non-government sectors.

This presentation, on May 15, follows the event’s postponement last year due to the pandemic.

The awards are presented across 12 categories. Two other honours – the Nurse/Midwife of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award – will also be presented on the night.

This year’s event will include a special tribute to the 19 nurses who flew east last year to help their Victorian counterparts during the COVID emergency.

As stated by Health Minister Roger Cook:

“More than ever, this year’s WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards highlight the extraordinary dedication and selflessness of our nurses and midwives.

“These awards are a fitting tribute to an outstanding group of individuals who are recognised by their peers and patients, as pillars of their profession.

“The Western Australian community is all the better for their compassion and commitment.”
