The Territory Labor Government has released a tender to provide an engaging and welcoming entry point to the city of Darwin.
The Aboriginal Flag will soon be flying over the Stuart Highway and Bagot Road intersection in acknowledgement of the traditional custodians, the Larrakia people.
As one of the main entryways into the Darwin CBD, it is fitting to recognise the Territorys rich Indigenous history in this way.
The flagpoles either side of the intersection will be consolidated to one safe, and accessible location on the inbound side of the Stuart Highway with a third pole added for the Aboriginal flag.
The project will also include beautification of the area through landscaping and the provision of lights.
Works are scheduled to commence in October this year and be completed next year.
