Activities Galore on Offer During School Holidays

NT Government

Hundreds of activities and events will be on offer right across the Territory for the long mid-year school break starting this Friday.

The jam-packed three-week calendar of events for young people is now available, so they can jump in to register for any events of interest and plan their next three weeks of fun, action and excitement.

The Territory Labor Government’s $1.75 million annual Youth Vibe Grant and Regional Youth Services program has enabled $60,000 to be contributed to providing this great range of events to keep our kids entertained and engaged, with loads of free activities and low fee activities right throughout the school break.

A great program of events, open to all young people, is being delivered in Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine, Alice Springs, Tennant Creek and across the Gove Peninsula.

Importantly, each region has coordinated its own program of events and young people have been involved with the design and delivery of services, which ensures the services reflect the community’s needs and preferences, and the events remain relevant to locals.

In Darwin, young people will have access to more than 40 diverse activities that will include gaming, basketball, pool parties and barista training, while Palmerston will deliver more than 60 great activities including the hugely popular Palmerston Youth Festival.

Katherine has set out to deliver junior touch football clinics, bike maintenance workshops, laser tag and skateboarding workshops.

In Alice Springs, there will be a huge 160 activities on offer and the action will be non-stop with big screen gaming, movie nights, youth band night and hip hop workshops to name just a few.

Tennant Creek kids will be discoing, attending soccer clinics, dance lessons and movies, while those in Gove will have movies, scooter workshops, food and fun.

The full events program can be accessed at here thanks to the Office of Youth Affairs.
