Additional charges after fatal stabbing in Whalan

Two additional men have been charged as part of ongoing investigations into the fatal stabbing of a man in Sydney’s west last month.

About 7.30pm on Wednesday 22 December 2021, emergency services attended a reserve at Catlin Close, Whalan, where they located three men – aged 40, 25 and 19 – with stab wounds.

The 40-year-old man died at the scene and the other two men were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment.

All men were known to each other.

Detectives attached to Mt Druitt Police Area Command and the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident under Strike Force Jaceva.

Four men – one aged 18 and three aged 19 – have been charged over their alleged roles in the incident. They all remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, a 19-year-old man and 25-year-old man were arrested at Mt Druitt Police Station about 8am today (Thursday 13 January 2022).

The younger man was charged with affray and possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.

The older man was charged with affray.

Both men were granted conditional bail and will appear in Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday 2 February 2022.
