Airservices Australia reveals second Australian Aviation Network Overview

Airservices Australia has today released its second deep-dive report on trends in the Australian aviation sector for the first two months of Financial Year 2024.

Designed to inform discussion among industry stakeholders, the Australian Aviation Network Overview offers a snapshot of key social and economic trends in the sector, our regional context and the performance of the Australian aviation network.

Australian aviation recorded 22 per cent growth over the last 12 months to August 2023, with demand for air travel proving resilient despite volatile jet fuel prices, supply chain constraints, labour shortages and trust challenges across the Australian economy.

The overall Australian aviation network performance is improving in terms of on-time performance, but is still below historical trend. Across our industry, we’re learning that returning to long-term performance expectations, while navigating post-pandemic uncertainty and complexity, requires more resources and different approaches to capacity development and resilience.

The Australian Aviation Network Overview is updated monthly.
