All talk, no action at Macquarie Point

Tasmanian Labor
  • Seven year later… and yet another press conference at Mac Point
  • Community right to be cynical
  • The Government has today celebrated another day of no real progress at Macquarie Point.

State and Federal Labor Governments announced funding for the transformation of the site in June 2012 but since then, the Hodgman Government has failed to deliver.

Shadow Infrastructure Minister Shane Broad said the Liberals were all talk and no action.

“The Liberals have been in Government for almost six years and all they have to show for it is plans for Hobart’s prettiest car park and a few pop-ups,” Dr Broad said.

“There have been countless press conferences but no sign of workers or bulldozers, or even a rough idea of when anything at all might happen.

“This is a once in a generation opportunity to reinvent Hobart’s waterfront, create much needed jobs and attract investment.

“It’s completely understandable that nearly every member of the community is cynical about the Government’s lazy, hands-off approach to Macquarie Point.

    “Tasmanians deserve much better.”

    Shane Broad MP

    Shadow Minister for Infrastructure
