Late last year construction works begun on the new public toilet block in Safety Beach. The old building was fenced off and demolition works commenced. These works ceased when the contractor experienced unforeseen hardship issues and was unable to continue the works.
We are currently in the process of engaging a new contractor to complete this project. This is taking longer than usual due to industry shortages for material and availability of suitable contractors, but we will notify everyone as soon they are confirmed.
The fenced off partially demolished building is structurally safe as it stands. No asbestos was found during the preliminary investigations to the old building. The nearby portable toilets will be in place for community use until the building works have finished.
