Annual call for new builders to join State-wide social housing delivery panel

  • State-wide Builders panel supports the delivery of new and refurbished residential dwellings for social housing across the State
  • Both construct-only and design-and-construct opportunities available
  • Panel supports registered builders of all sizes, including small and medium companies
  • Panel cuts red tape allowing pre-approved small and medium businesses to deliver social housing

The Cook Government is calling for new builders to join the State-wide Builders Panel to further accelerate the delivery of social housing across Western Australia.

As part of the annual process for the State-wide Builders Panel, the State Government is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from registered builders of all sizes, interested and capable of delivering residential dwellings as part of its record $2.6 billion investment in housing and homelessness services in WA over the next four years.

In late 2022, the Department of Communities established a panel of registered builders to further accelerate the State Government’s delivery of social housing, with the panel primarily supporting the delivery and refurbishment of social housing.

Refurbishment, construct-only and design-and-construct opportunities are available for those appointed to the panel, and builders will be asked to nominate their capacity to deliver as part of the panel procurement process.

To encourage participation, particularly for smaller-scale and regional contractors, the process for qualifying for the panel has been simplified.

Builders of all sizes and from all regions are encouraged to respond to the Request for Expressions of Interest, which is currently live on TendersWA and closes on Tuesday, the 3rd October 2023.

As stated by Housing Minister John Carey:

“Our Government is using every lever we can to bolster the supply of social housing throughout Western Australia including expanding our successful State-wide Builders Panel.

“We’re calling on all small, medium and large builders throughout Western Australia to join the State-Wide Builders Panel as we continue our push to deliver 4,000 social homes.

“Appointment to the panel will cut red tape for small, medium and large builders, who will be pre-approved to take on Government contracts and deliver social housing dwellings throughout WA.

“The expansion of the panel will also assist these businesses, whether they’re large or small, to build their capacity and benefit from our Government’s major pipeline of work through our investments in social housing.

“Since our Government’s record $2.6 billion investment in social housing and homelessness measures, we’ve added more than 1,500 social homes across Western Australia.

“Further to this, we have more than 1,000 social homes currently under contract or construction.

“I encourage registered builders, of all sizes, across the State across regional WA through to the metropolitan area, to register their interest for this opportunity.

“This is all part of the Cook Labor Government’s $2.6 billion investment in housing and homelessness services in WA, including the delivery of 4,000 social dwellings as well as refurbishments and maintenance work to many thousands more.”
