Appeal after reported child approach, NSW

Police are appealing for information after reports of a child approach near Coffs Harbour on the weekend.

About 9.45pm on Sunday 21 November 2021, a 14-year-old girl was walking along Fiddaman Road, Emerald Beach – about 15 km north of Coffs Harbour – when she was approached by an unknown vehicle with two male occupants.

The driver offered the girl a lift, however she refused and continued walking.

The driver then exited the vehicle and attempted to usher the girl inside the vehicle before she ran to her nearby home.

Police were notified and officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District have commenced an investigation.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for witnesses who may be able to assist in identifying the males or vehicle.

The driver is described as being aged in his late teens, 180cm tall, of skinny build, and spoke with an accent she was not familiar with. He was wearing a black hoodie and dark long pants.

The male passenger is not further described.

The car is described as a late model, dark coloured Holden Commodore which was displaying green P plates.
